I apologize for not posting lately. Now that I live with Devin, I have so many other things to do! I don't spend every weekend sitting alone writing a blog post anymore. I am so happy about that, though. I'd still rather hang out with Devin and watch TV tonight instead of writing a blog, soooo this post might be mostly pictures with few words so that I can get back to relaxing before work tomorrow. Here are some photos of our road trips from Maine to Florida and again from Iowa to Florida:

Jon and Devin helped me move from Maine. Before we left Maine, we did the Color Run in Portland.

Iowa and Florida were right next to each other. (Look at the name on the pillars)

We took a train from Washington D.C. to Orlando, Florida.

This is how much standing room we had in our cabin on the train - about a foot wide. So funny, but a cool experience.

This is the morning Devin and I left Lansing, Iowa in his car to start our second trip to Florida.

We got to Sarasota on the Fourth of July. We tried going to see the fireworks but got in a traffic jam and had to watch them from the car. But we think we had a better view from the air-conditioned car than most people did standing outside.

Our first picture in Florida :)

UGGGHHHHHH!!!!! I was done with my blog and then it crashed and I lost everything after this picture. I lost two hours of writing on this blog. I refuse to rewrite all of that. So here are the pictures of us in Florida and you guys can just guess what it is. I'm not going to retype everything to explain each photo. Sorry. I just want to get this post over with. But I'll just end with saying I am happy. I love Florida and I love work and I have never been so happy in my life.

Sooooo I finished my final project at The Landing School, graduated, moved to Florida, and started my new job at Michael Peters Yacht Design. I am so far behind in blogging that I don't feel like typing up everything I've done in the last month. So this is my short version... which will still probably end up being pretty long.
I am happy with my final project. I am overwhelmed and amazed at how much I learned about yacht design in ten months, but I am equally overwhelmed with how much I still have to learn. After starting work, I've realized even more that I have yet to learn. But Michael Peters is a great mentor, and I am lucky to work with him. Anyway, for only learning about designing yacht for less than a year, I say this is a pretty good project:

I learned how to use Rhino, a 3D CAD software this year. I was so accustomed to SolidWorks (a different software) and HATED using Rhino at first. Then I realized how much easier it is to do 3D modeling in Rhino, and now I can't even remember how to use SolidWorks. Luckily, MPYD uses Rhino.
Here is the poster I made for the project. We had them hanging up on graduation day:

Phew, I'm already slowing down on typing. I think I'll just post some pictures of my family visiting me in Maine for my graduation. I was so happy that all four of them could make it AND Devin. I was excited to show my brother and sister around the town I had spent the last year living in. We all got to eat fresh seafood and the weather was beautiful.

Here is a picture of me right before I stood up to receive my diploma and become a certified yacht designer:

Here is my yacht design class after we received our diplomas:

We were able to see the lobster brought in on the boat, be cooked within minutes, and put on our plate. As fresh as it gets.

Dad signed us all up for a sailboat ride on an old schooner. That was pretty neat.

I'll write a second blog in a few days to talk about traveling to Florida and my new job. Devin and I have also been recording our trip on a GoPro. We will eventually put together a video to post to my blog.

Devin and I are VERY happy. Devin starts his job in a week and we are starting to settle in. I'll go into more detail later. Goodnight.
